In case you hadn't noticed yet - color is sort of LP+P's "thing." We love color - using it, designing with it, playing with it, hugging and squeezing it. Okay maybe not that last part but you get the idea. We like to watch the color "trends" like everyone but we kind of track our own trends, with our own brides and grooms here in the studio. 2010 was our purple year. 2009 - greens & blues, 2008 - reds & oranges, 2007 - brown, and lots of it, etc.
Consistently though, throughout all the years, we have requests for metallic inks - golds, and silvers, and coppers, and more. We think the results are pretty fabulous and wanted to share a few.
The GOLDS: This gorgeous save-the-date, letterpress printed in a bright gold metallic ink on some crazy-thick 100% cotton paper in a pale ivory shade, is a recent project with retail partner - The Dandelion Patch in Reston, VA. The LP+P Stanley Invitation Design, with its delicate, vintage frame artwork matched with traditional (and gorgeous) wedding typestyles/fonts - yummy gold goodness.
The SILVERS: The top image shows our Aspen Invitation Design offset printed in a light silver metallic ink on a lake blue paper. The contrast between the ink and the paper is just strong enough to make the text jump off the page. The bottom image show's LP+P's Era Invitation Design (see the Era of Our Ways blog post) in darker metallic silver and pale metallic pink inks on soft white paper. This project, created with Mac & Murphy of Charleston, South Carolina, utilized thermography as it's printing method - silver sophistication.
The COPPERS: The top image shows our Laurel Invitation Design offset printed in a bold copper metallic ink on a soft white paper. The bottom image show's a customization to the Aspen Invitation Design (with the addition of the 2nd leaf on the panel). This project was offset printed in a dark copper metallic ink on a 100% recycled white paper. We're a little in love with the coppers - just enough red to feel nice and warm but dark enough that everything reads beautifully - a great alternative to the chocolate browns or dark grays - copper couture!
